In a little over a month, basketball season will start. The Women's Basketball team will be opening the season with new coach Kelly Packard. The team has had a great deal of success the last few years. It will be interesting to see how the team plays this year with a new coach. I have a feeling that they will still be towards the top of their conference and have a legitimate shot at the MAC Championship in Cleveland.

Jason and I will be doing a feature story on Dana Moorman. We are still in the process of shooting and editing but I'll give you a little insight to why we are doing this. Dana has graduated from Ball State in 3 years and is currently working on her masters WHILE being a Division 1 athlete. And just to put icing on the cake she is still overcoming a serious knee injury that happened a couple months ago. More to come soon on Dana!

Steve and I just finished our package on Dana Moorman. This package took longer than intended, for reasons I will not talk about. We interviewed Dana, Kiley Jarrett, Asst. Coach McDonald, and Head Coach Kelly Packard. They were all great interviewers and made the interviews painless. Like Steve has already talked about Dana is achieving at lot at one time and it is a great story to tell. Kiley has been her roommate and had great insight to what Dana is like on and off the court. Overall I feel the package turned out pretty good, there were a couple things I would have changed if possible.

Well we finally finished our Dana Moorman piece. Only took two weeks for reasons we won't go into. But the story was even better than I thought; we found out that Dana tore her ACL in her left knee coming out of high school which in turn led her to graduating early. She was able to come to summer school just after graduating high school not only for classes, but also to rehab her knee with her new team. So it was just a great story about a great person. I've known Dana for a while, but its amazing what you learn about people and how deeply committed they are to their passion. Way to go Dana! Can't wait to see you back on the court!

Cameron and I were able to sit down with Coach Packard a few days ago. I honestly feel she is going to do some great things here at Ball State. The attitude she is bringing to Ball State basketball is one that is ferocious and is going to get these girls playing some up tempo basketball. She is an extremely nice person who has great morals and will take these girls to the next level in not only basketball but life as well. GO CARDS AND GO COACH PACKARD!

Tomorrow, we will broadcast our last event of the year. It will be the women's basketball game versus Indiana State. Me and Ken have worked really hard to make this a good looking broadcast that we all can be proud of. We will feature a package on Dana Moorman, and a story on CS Kern, and the poster book that they are giving away during the men's game earlier that day.
